Taken Me Back (Life Ensued)

from All at Once by Michael Justice

/

lyrics

Man you're taking me back, to before I ever rapped,
Played drums, keys, hopped on the mic or made tracks,
A listener at that, sittin in the back
Of my dads ford exploring sounds that always last,
Thinkin of witty shit thats richer in spirit,
Now I'm just tryna steer this ship
Through this Lunar Eclipse,
That keeps appearin'
Cheers Nick
Lately livin off poor wage, no tips,
And still grindin on music
Reminds me back when I was kid maybe six
I'd give you coins as a guitar pick,
Always wanted my own kit
Since I heard your bass kick
Muffled through walls of your kitchen, omittin,
Sick sounds all around was astounded when I got my own,
My rents bought it off a friend man I thought it was a joke,
Thought they were Kidding,
Pullin my leg, bullshittin
But alas,
The snare kick toms splash and crash,
Were mine to keep time with and build my craft,
I was thirteen, seventh grade forever lasts,
As start of the future, and reflections of the past
May it be engraved in my memory as the tone setter,
For mistakes to be treated as growth in harmony endeavors.
Started off Floyd and Rush,
Then Light As a Feather, Came into the picture,
I heard Bill Evans way more than scriptures
Built my morals off humanity, culture and a mixture,
Of quilted mortal sanity, flowers, and elixirs,
Thanks to my second family on baker street the fishers,
Every single one of them a real good listener,
Been through some rough shit little bit of a sinner,
But in the end just leaves me bittersweet at dinner,
Thinkin of the Mrs. And The Mr.
As addiction came to get her,
Artistic out the ass man but no one could get her,
take this as message for the loved ones man its not getting better.

...

Original never cover x2

I mean it I didn't stutter

Never had a sadder summer x3
Never had sadder summer mind unraveled in the gutter
Sometimes see you guys in the skies,
No surprise I'm looking grimmer dude,
Bet you met my grandad too,
Guess now my grandma cool,
Covid got her, like spotter scoped in and zoomed,
I still remember when the hurricane left my grandads room,
Untouched while the rest blew up like cartoons,
Like a sign from above sayin "saved for you"
Pourin through your sheet music to learn a few tunes,
Always said wouldve loved to see what I do,
Heard music in my head that flew like you and your jazz crew
So imagine the grin that grew when I heard your first record dude

Don't mean to lecture you, but this the shit that I went through,
I'm just tryna say some shit I know is true
This is how my life ensued
Not guuna try to impress you say whose less than who
Lately it seems like I've got nothing to prove,
Used to bleed hate and berate
Now I breathe creations greatest yield to date.
Like how many trips around the sun does it take
To mistake blessings in disguise while I lie at the gates,

It was at this point that I make or break the stakes
Are these the bars of heaven or hell, is this my fate,
I made it out to tell the truth if it isn't to late,
We're playin out to spell the mood be it worse or great,
I'm layin out the welded tools to build more than a cage
We're stayin out and helpin dudes,
Before they're wanted by the state.
Before they're wanted by the state.
